24/7 monitoring does not automatically prevent downtime, but it shortens the time between detection, analysis and escalation. This enables the organisation to decide on isolation or other control measures before the impact spreads.

This depends on the available data sources and the selected scope. IT telemetry is generally widely available, while OT monitoring requires an approach that accounts for segmentation, protocols and production availability requirements.

Implementation should be coordinated in advance with production and maintenance windows. Existing data sources or passive monitoring are used where possible, but the actual impact depends on the infrastructure and required integrations.

An alert is first validated and enriched with context. Any isolation or shutdown of production systems takes place only in accordance with the agreed incident process, as uncoordinated containment can itself create operational or safety risks.

This is assessed during a technical intake. Supported log sources, network protocols, segmentation and existing tooling determine what visibility is achievable without disrupting production reliability.

Reports can translate technical findings into business impact, trends and outstanding risks. For the board, potential production downtime, recoverability and progress on improvement measures are particularly relevant.
